2025 Annual Environment & Spirituality Summit

September 29, 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM ET - Rev. Dr. Randy Woodley will explore the interwoven paths of Indigenous wisdom, faith, and Earth justice.
September 29, 7:30 PM - 8:30 PM ET - Join an hour of reflection, story, and possibility with Dr. Carolyn Finney, a storyteller, cultural geographer, and author of Black Faces, White Spaces.
September 30, 2025, 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM ET - Lyanda Lynn Haupt, author of Rooted, Crow Planet, and The Urban Bestiary will speak on how the natural world sustains us and how attentiveness, kinship, and wonder can support our spiritual and ecological resilience.
Keynote: September 30, 2025, 7:30 PM - 8:30 PM ET - Robin Wall Kimmerer, renowned author, scientist, and enrolled member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation, will invite a deeper contemplation of the reciprocal support and strength shared between humans and the natural world.

Kentucky IPL will once again participate in the Louisville Earth Walk. This year's event will be help in Shawnee Park on October 18, 2025. Season of Creation

Every year, Christians around the world celebrate The Season of Creation from September 1st until the Feast of St. Francis on October 4th.

The Season of Creation is a time to renew our relationship with our Creator and all creation through celebration, conversion, and commitment together. During the Season of Creation, we join our sisters and brothers in the ecumenical family in prayer and action for our common home.

Exciting News for Kentucky

Here are just a few large renewable energy projects that are in the works in Kentucky. Most of them are in coal counties that can really benefit from the economic development. it is great to see the Commonwealth moving forward towards a clean energy future so that Kentuckians can continue the long tradition of producing energy here. This will also have many health benefits of cleaner air, water, and soil.

Green Leaders Group

The Green Leaders Group allows congregational attendees to share what is going on in their community and connect with like-minded people. We meet monthly on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at noon on Zoom. Join us on August 13 for our next meeting. Email tim@kentuckyipl.org to be added to the list for getting the Zoom link.

We are pleased to share that we will continue our 2kW for $5K program for 2025! Through this program, your faith community can get a 2-kilowatt solar array for $5,000. While this array is not large, installing smaller arrays over time can be much easier for a congregation to implement. A 2kW (2,000 watt) solar array installed in Kentucky that lays flat on a roof can produce from 2,562 to 2,823 kWh of electricity per year and save $242 annually. That means that this $5,000 system will generate about $12,000 of electricity in its 50-year life. That’s about a 5% return on your money!
