Election Watch

As people of faith, we know our sacred work for climate justice requires a strong democracy in which everyone has dignity and voice. So counting every vote is a moral issue and a matter of justice. As people of faith, we understand that doing things well and carefully can take time. We know the sacred patience that is needed in this moment.

Keya Chatterjee, executive director of the US Climate Action Network (which Kentucky IPL is a member of) said Trump’s victory declaration was desperate and undemocratic. “Right now we need to make sure that the people of the United States decide who leads it and no one else, so we need to count every vote, and re-count every vote if we need to do so."

Climate activists around the country have reacted angrily to Donald Trump’s unfounded claim he won the US presidential election, mobilizing to defend the democratic process. Read more here. And check to see if there is a Protect the Results event near you.

Welcome to our New Social Media Coordinator

We are so excited to welcome Marquel Lett as our new Social Media Coordinator! She is an expert in non profit development, fundraising and marketing.

She received her B.A. in Environmental and Sustainability Studies from the University of Kentucky. She has a passion for environmental sciences as most of her undergraduate research was focused on food security and environmental justice. 

Lett is a proud Louisvillian, Christian woman, mother of two children, owner/ceo of SeQuel Scents, and manages development and public relations for Louisville Central Community Center. In her down time, she participates in local farmers markets, volunteers as an advisor for MANRRS (Minorities in Agriculture and Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences), and spends time with her family. REAL Good News for Louisville

On November 14, at 6:30pm ET, Kentucky IPL is partnering with the Renewable Energy Alliance of Louisville (REAL) and St. Paul United Methodist Church to present REAL Good News for Louisville featuring music from John Gage, speakers Sam Avery, Nancy Givens, and Margaret Stewart from REAL and District 17 Metro Councilman Markus Winkler.
