Give for Good Louisville on Sept. 17

We need your help! Whether you are in Louisville or not, we invite you to participate in the Give for Good Louisville fundraising extravaganza on September 17. Kentucky IPL would not exist without the generous donations of community supporters. Hosted by the Community Foundation of Louisville, Give for Good Louisville is a day of giving dedicated to non-profits in Kentuckiana. Below are the top three ways you can help us!

  1. Donate to our campaign. Consider giving to Kentucky IPL on on the Give for Good website.
  2. Enter the #WhyIGIVE Donor Challenge by September 16. Donors & Community Members may submit their answer to the question “Why I Give“ by clicking this link for a chance to win $250 for your chosen org. A total of 30 bonus $250 gifts will be given during Give For Good, to be randomly drawn from all submissions received by September 16.
  3. Share on your social media why you support Kentucky IPL! Follow along on our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for posts you can share to your family and friends. 
 
 

REAL Good News: Local Action for Climate Care in Louisville

Join Kentucky Interfaith Power & Light, REAL (the Renewable Energy Alliance of Louisville) and St. Paul United Methodist Church to learn more about what Louisville is doing for the sake of our climate in this free, online event on Sept 18 at 7pm ET.  Speakers include:

  • Sam Avery – REAL, Renewable Energy Alliance of Louisville
  • Lane Boldman – Kentucky Conservation Committee
  • Andy McDonald – Kentucky Solar Energy Society
  • Cathy Clement – Kentucky Solar Advocacy Network
  • Music by John Gage, folksinger
 

Going Green Kits Available

Thanks to the Community Grant from the Louisville Sustainability Council, Kentucky IPL now has several beginner level energy-efficiency kits to give out to faith communities! If your faith community suffers from the financial drain of heating and cooling, aging buildings, or is looking to be more energy efficient, you can reach out to our Outreach Coordinator Audrie for help on getting a kit. The kit includes several items such as LED light bulbs, outlet sealers, power strips, and more. Kits are still available for Louisville-based congregations and will be given on a first-come, first serve basis. Email Audrie at 

 
 

Louisville Earth Walk

Mark your calendar! The 2021 Louisville Earth Walk will be on Saturday, October 23rd. There will be both virtual and in-person options. Walk on your own in your community virtually or join others at 9:00am EST at Hogan’s Fountain at Cherokee Park, Louisville, KY.

Bits & Pieces

  • Our Green Leaders are getting together every month to learn together and support each other. Meetings are held on the last Tuesday of the month, from 3:30pm to 4:30pm ET. Join the Green Leaders Email List for more information.

  • Professor Emily Askew is leading an online course on "Climate Migration" for Lexington Theological Seminary's Fall 2021 Lay School of Theology on September 11, 18, & 25 from 1-3 pm ET. The course will connect climate, justice, and theology. Learn more about the opportunity here.

  • Louisville Sustainability Council's September Green Drinks Lou will be September 15 from 6pm - 7pm. Green Drinks Lou is a casual monthly meet-up of community members and organizations. Each month LSC host different speakers from across the city to educate and inform the community on local happenings, projects, and initiatives. Each presentation is followed by Q&A, discussion, and networking. Typically held at various local restaurants and bars, Green Drinks Lou are still meeting virtually to connect.

  • Faith in Place's 6th annual Green Team Summit will be held virtually during the evenings of September 12-14th.
